📅 Friday, June 26th | 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM
📍 Project Site: Manitowoc County Historical Society

This is a half-day, low-commitment way to make a real impact. It's also a great opportunity to connect with fellow YPs while doing something meaningful in our community.

(
If you are scheduled to work this day, we encourage you to check if your employer provides paid volunteer time or any flexible time-off options to accommodate volunteer activities.)

Here's how the day goes:

8:00 AM — Optional kickoff breakfast at United Way
9:00 AM — Volunteer work begins at project sites. The YP group will be at the Manitowoc County Historical Society

12:00–1:30 PM — Wrap-up and catered lunch at The Salvation Army

Yes, there's a free breakfast AND a catered lunch. 🙌

What we'll be working on:
🧹 Inside: General cleaning including dusting, mopping, and sweeping.
🌿 Outside: Garden preparation and work, fence construction, and raking.
Please note: Minimum age 18.

About the Young Professionals (YPs) of Manitowoc County: The YPs offer development events and social events for individuals roughly ages 21–40 who live or work in the area. No membership required. Jul 22    Brew ‘N Bee VI: From Bee to Shining Bee!
Let’s be honest, folks. There’s a time and place for subtle, reserved discourse between like-minded scholars to be exchanged in a reasonable manner. And then there’s the Brew ‘N Bee at PetSkull Brewing Co., LLC, where semi-contained “intelligent” tomfoolery is allowed to run its course, unleashed to swarm all those in attendance with a less-than-subtle blend of smarts and yowling bravado! And as this is the 250th Anniversary of our glorious country, what better way to celebrate the succulent melting pot of languages that have become the Extraordinary American Vernacular!

That said, the “T-I-M-E” to partake in a bit of friendly “C-O-M-P-E-T-I-T-I-O-N” while indulging in a couple of quality micro-brewed beers (should one so choose to) is upon us again: “Brew ‘N Bee VI: From Bee to Shining Bee!’” Manitowoc Public Library and PetSkull Brewing Company, LLC, will once again join forces to present this annual orthographic scrum in PetSkull’s outdoor Beer Garden on Wednesday, July 22, at 6 PM. As before, this will be a Single Elimination event, so if you spell a word wrong, you’re out! However, “Cheats” will again be available for purchase prior to the first letter dropping the evening of the Bee to help keep you in the competition should a misspelling occur.

A $20 participation fee will be associated with the Brew ‘N Bee and registration is required. It should be noted that all proceeds from the purchase of Cheats and the registration fee (once minor expenses are met) will be donated to Friends of Manitowoc Public Library. It should be further noted that PetSkull Brewing will be generously donating the entirety of their portion of the registration fee to the Friends of MPL!!! Can you spell “A-M-A-Z-I-N-G”?!
Space is Limited! Registration opens at 9 AM on Wednesday, June 17, for Adults 21-and-over at https://www.manitowoclibrary.org/event/brew-n-bee-vi-bee-shining-bee. Full rules for “From Bee to Shining Bee!” will be contained within the Registration Packet, which is handed to participants the night of The Bee. PLEASE NOTE: While registration for this event takes place online, payment of the $20 Registration Fee must be made at PetSkull Brewing Company IN CASH prior to the start of the Brew N’ Bee on July 22.

Here's a Full List of what participants will receive for their registration fee, the scoop on Cheats, and prizes for the Top 3 Finishers:

$20 Registration Fee. For this fee you will receive:
  • Two pints of amazing PetSkull Beer (or soda/water, if you prefer)

Oct 14    STEM FEST

The Chamber of Manitowoc County along with
UW - Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus will be hosting STEM FEST on October 14, 2026 at the UW - Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus for 4th and/or 5th grade students from schools across Manitowoc County.

For Businesses:
This is a great opportunity to highlight the wonderful things you are doing by sharing the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math that are essential to the work being done right here in Manitowoc County. It will also help kids to see how what they learn in school is used in their own community - and a great way to connect with your future workforce.

All businesses and organizations are invited to participate by setting up a table (booth) with STEM-related demos or hands-on activities for students. This gives you an opportunity to highlight STEM content related to your industry and/or STEM careers in your organization.

If your team is interested but not sure where to go with your activity, we have teams from the Einstein Project and Millipore Sigma's Curiosity Cube willing to help plan activities.

Here are some "Activity Ideas" from last year:
Robotic arm
Science and technology in the archives.Kids will get a chance to look at how things deteriorate and what museums do to stop it and/or slow it down.
A project that shows how mental health plays a role in our everyday lives
Show blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, oxygen saturation monitor, etc.
Laser Engraving
Build a bridge out of foil to hold a toy car.
Leaf ID/rubbings
Gummy bear DNA
Hands on demos of real life phenomena and the chemistry behind them.
Simple electrical circuit - students will be asked to create a simple electrical circuit using a battery, light bulb, and wire.
Investigating water samples using microscopes to learn about local aquatic ecology and our waterways.
We will have several furs, bones and feathers from animals found in Wisconsin. There will be clues about each animal so the students can learn.
We will be bringing Ozobots and Cubelets, as well as some Science Kits and Tech Toys that are available for check-out from Manitowoc Public Library.
Melting crayons, pouring into molds and cooling them down to replicate the aluminum molding process of our foundry.

Additionally, if your business or organization is interested in helping to support this valuable and exciting workforce event, we have sponsorship opportunities available. Your generous investment will help cover the cost of busing students from across Manitowoc County to the event. Sponsorships are available on a first-come first-served basis.

*Registration is required to volunteer and display your activity/experiment at a table (1 table provided per registration). If you need additional accommodations please contact melissa@chambermanitowoccounty.org

For Schools:
This is a great opportunity for students to experience the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math happening in businesses right here in Manitowoc County. It will also help kids to see how what they learn in school is used in their own community.

Participating businesses will have STEM-related demos or hands-on activities for students to interact with during one of the three 75 minute sessions starting at 9am, 10:45am and 12:30pm. There will also be games and activities from the Einstein Project and Millipore Sigma's Curiosity Cube.

If your school would like to sign up for one of the three sessions, please let us know which one, and how many students will be attending. We also have funding to help offset the cost of busing students to the event. Districts will be responsible for arranging their own busing, however the Chamber Foundation will reimburse districts for the cost of the busing, thanks to our generous sponsors. Please contact Melissa Radandt if you are interested in bringing your students to this event at melissa@chambermanitowoccounty.org.
