Line Cook - Banquets

Position Summary

The Banquet Cook is responsible for helping organize and operate the banquet kitchen in order to prepare foods for banquet functions while maintaining Resort standards for quality and efficiency.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Following Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure meals are prepared as ordered
  • Preparing food in a proper and efficient manner to ensure that quality standards are met on a consistent basis; ensuring constant compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Communicating professionally with kitchen and restaurant staff
  • Following recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications per standards
  • Demonstrating thorough understanding and knowledge of proper use and maintenance of kitchen tools and equipment
  • Assisting with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas
  • Assisting operation managers as requested in areas such as plate presentation, special function menu planning, and the design of new service areas
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned
 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least two years progressive experience in high volume food production or catering preferred
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler’s Card within two months of hire
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; ability to communicate effectively with superiors, peers, and subordinates
  • Willingness to take day-to-day work direction from management
  • Ability to work in high-stress environment
  • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures
  • Possess moderate reading and writing skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and as business levels dictate

The employee is occasionally exposed to hazards including, but not limited to cuts from knives, slipping, tripping, falls and burns; frequent exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, extreme cold; frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items and frequent washing of hands. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
