Historical Society continues memory care programs in 2023
| The Manitowoc County Historical Society has announced the schedule for its SPARK! programs for 2023. SPARK! is a free monthly program for individuals living with early-to-mid stage memory loss, their care partners, and family members. Participants are engaged in lively conversations, exhibit exploration, historic artifacts, and multi-sensory activities. SPARK! programs are held at the Manitowoc County Historical Society on the second Tuesday of each month at 11 am. Participants may arrive at 10:45 am for coffee and conversation before the program begins. The program will last approximately 60 minutes. Participants and their families are also welcome to stay after the program to tour the museum. The first SPARK! program of the year will take place on March 14 and explore the exciting role puppet theaters played in the early days of our communities. Additional programs include: April 11: How does your garden grow? Get ready for spring planting and discover fascinating history of garden traditions. May 9: Stretch—breathe—and more as we learn to practice mindfulness, and add a sprinkle of motivation to our day. June 13: Get ready to make some music… or noise… as we learn the story of the Smalley Civil War drum. July 11: Join us as we play games and try our hand at puzzles. August 8: Invite your family and friends to join us for our Summer SPARK! picnic. Music, food, games, and more! September 12: Nature is all around us! Today we are learning about the natural world. October 10: Music, Music, Music! Join us for a day of listening and interpreting your own musical creations. November 14: Join us for a tasteful adventure in the historic Sorenson House kitchen. December 12: They dazzle. They shine. They are part of our local history!
