Local Rotarians Receive the Paul Harris Fellow Award
Manitowoc, Wis. Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary is pleased to announce that members Dr. Barry Bast and Frank Soltys recently received the Paul Harris Fellow award. This honored award is the highest recognition that Rotary gives to an individual. It is The Rotary Foundation’s way of expressing appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. The award is named for Rotary’s founder, a Chicago lawyer, who started the service organization with three business associates in 1905. Bast, a retired orthopedic surgeon, has been a member of Sunrise since its inception in 1991. Soltys, President/CEO of Felician Village, has been a Rotarian since 2002 and has been a member of Sunrise Rotary since 2015. Presenting the awards was Rotary District Governor Don Griffing, a member of Rotary Club of Oshkosh.
In addition, Sunrise Rotary has received the 2022-23 Club Citation from Rotary International. It is the most significant award a Rotary club can achieve. This past year Sunrise demonstrated a commitment to achieving its goals, which included increasing its membership, developing sustainable service projects, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and building awareness of Rotary in the community
