Manitowoc, WI, August 26, 2022—Manitowoc Public Library’s August 2022 Children’s Programs are scheduled with the following events and dates:
Manitowoc Public Library Closed for Labor Day Monday, September 5
The Library will be closed all day, Monday, September 5, for Labor Day. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, September 6.
Family Activity Nights (FANs) Tuesdays, 6:30 PM
Family Activity Nights are BACK in the Balkansky Community Room with something different and fun for the whole family! Geared toward ages 2-6, but older siblings are always welcome. Adults must remain with children at all times. Please check our Facebook page and event calendar for updates!
- Shrinky Dink Shenanigans!—September 6 Everyone loves Shrinky Dinks! Make some art and watch it shrink before your eyes into a cool ring, keychain, or necklace of your very own. No registration is required for this event!
- Petticoats & Parlor Games!—September 27 Manitowoc Public Library and Manitowoc County Historical Society invite you to travel back in time to your home’s parlor in the 1880s. Try on historic clothing and test your skill in playing Victorian Era parlor games. No registration required!
Baby Storytime Wednesdays, 9:30 AM
Baby Storytime is 20 minutes of stories, songs, rhymes, bounces, parachute activities, and bubbles, followed by 20 minutes of playtime! Baby Storytime is recommended for developmental ages 0-2 and siblings are always welcome. All Library storytimes are inclusive and welcoming. You are encouraged to attend the storytime that best meets your family's developmental needs. Registration is not required.
Preschool Storytime Wednesdays & Thursdays, 10:30 AM
Join us in singing, talking, reading, creating, and playing at this inclusive Storytime for families with preschoolers. Storytime focuses on concepts such as life skills, counting, colors, emotions, patterns, and the alphabet. It's a great opportunity to meet new friends, socialize, and strengthen early literacy skills. Storytime is recommended for developmental ages 2-5 and siblings are always welcome. All library storytimes are inclusive and welcoming. You are encouraged to attend the storytime that best meets your family's developmental needs. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Registration is not required.
Read to Certified Therapy Dogs Tuesday, September 13, 6:30 PM
Studies show that children who read to animals, like our therapy dogs, gain confidence and improve their overall reading. Each family may register for one 15-minute one-on-one session with a therapy dog. Adults must accompany children under the age of 8 at all times. Please call 920-686-3030 or stop by the Youth Services Department to register.
Nurdle Patrol: Lincoln High School Beach Clean-Up Day Saturday, September 17, 9 AM
Manitowoc Public Library will be hosting a Nurdle Patrol and beach cleanup day on Saturday, September 17, starting at 9 AM at the Lincoln High School Beach. We’ll be meeting in the high school parking lot on S. 9th Street (next to the Field House) and registration is required. Sign up at https://adopt.greatlakes.org/s/cleanup/a2o8X000004L8U4QAK/aab20905. Please join us as we work together to clean up our beaches and give back to our community! Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
