MPL Teen Services March 2023 Events

Manitowoc, WI, February 22, 2023—Manitowoc Public Library’s Teen Services February 2023 programming is scheduled with the following events and dates:

2023 Winter Reading Program: Warm Up to a Good Book!
Through Saturday, March 4
Beat the winter blahs with books! There’s still time for book lovers of ALL AGES to join MPL’s 2023 Winter Reading Program! Read or be read to a total of 10 hours through March 4. Everyone that finishes the challenge receives a prize! Track your reading on the Beanstack app, by visiting manitowoclibrary.beanstack.org, or by picking-up a paper tracker at any MPL Service Desk!

MPL Insider: Beyond the Books with Tim & Emily
Wednesday, March 1, & Thursday, March 16, 12:30-1 PM both days
Join Tim & Emily for a behind-the-scenes look at Manitowoc Public Library staff, services and events. Will there be trivia? Without a doubt! Will there be foolishness? We can pretty much guarantee there will be some of that, too! All episodes of "MPL Insider" will broadcast LIVE on both MPL's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/manitowoclibrary) and our YouTube channel. Join us for a fun, entertaining conversation! Therese Horstketter, MPL Volunteer Coordinator, will be the first “Insider” guest on March 1; Public Services Assistant, Matt Mottle, will join Tim & Emily on March 16.

3rd Annual Lakeshore Seed Swap                        Saturday, March 11, 9 AM-12 PM
Join the Lakeshore Seed Collective in the Balkansky Community Room at Manitowoc Public Library for the 3rd Annual Lakeshore Area Seed Swap on Saturday, March 11, from 9 AM to Noon. A seed swap is a no-cost seed exchange. If you have extra seeds that you aren't planting or you are looking for something to plant in your own garden, stop by MPL! Think of a seed swap as a potluck—but with seeds! There is no cost to participate and you don't need to bring seeds in order to take some seeds. Any vegetable or flower seeds are fine. There will be a box at the Library near the Main Service Desk on the First Floor where you can drop off seeds beginning on Monday, February 27. We'd appreciate donations of seeds ahead of time so that we have a chance to organize them.

Seed Library at Manitowoc Public Library
Available at MPL starting on Saturday, March 11
Curated by Manitowoc Public Library and Lakeshore Seed Collective—and housed in a lovely vintage card catalogue generously donated by Manitowoc County Historical Society—the Seed Library at Manitowoc Public Library is intended to cultivate an interest in gardening for both the novice and the experienced grower. Situated on MPL’s First Floor near the Service Desk, the Seed Library is a collection of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds that you can “check out” (up to 4 seed packets per household per visit to the Library) to plant and grow at home at absolutely no cost to you. That’s right—there’s no catch: the seeds are available FREE of charge. Seeing as our seed collection depends primarily on donations, you'll see different seeds available at different times, so check back frequently to see what's available. The MPL Seed Library will be available to our community beginning on Saturday, March 11, (in conjunction with the 3rd Annual Lakeshore Seed Swap). For all the details for this amazing new possibility, please head to www.manitowoclibrary.org/seedlibrary.
