MPL Teen Services September 2021 Events
Manitowoc, WI, August 23, 2021—Manitowoc Public Library’s Teen Services August 2021 programming is scheduled with the following events and dates:
Collection Obsession: Barb Bundy-Jost’s “American Gothic”
Through Thursday, September 2
What began as a lighthearted parody Polaroid picture of Barb Bundy-Jost and her husband taken in front of their newly-acquired farmhouse soon blossomed into a full blown "Collection Obsession" with Grant Wood's "American Gothic." Over the next thirty years, Barb's "American Gothic" collection has grown to contain hundreds of pieces. She'll be sharing the choicest of these fascinating pieces with the public during "Collection Obsession,'" on display at Manitowoc Public Library through Thursday, September 2. Join us in the celebration and walk away with “American Gothic” eyes!!
United Way: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Grab & Go Bags
Through Thursday, September 30
United Way Manitowoc County’s diversity, equity and inclusion kits cover a variety of topics including kindness, our differences and similarities, disabilities, where skin tone comes from, and more. They're perfect for young, preschool to elementary school-aged children and include a variety of stories, activities, and goodies. Bags are available on a first come, first served basis while supplies last! Bags can be picked up at MPL’s Youth Services Desk!
Everything Under One Inch with Matt Welter Thursday, September 9, 6:00 PM
Join naturalist, Matt Welter, as he returns to MPL for a Virtual Program that takes the tiny things in nature you can find here in Wisconsin and enlarges them for a better look--from slime molds that look like ice cream cones, to cups that grow only on acorn shells, to bugs that turn leaves into lace. Matt's program will make you want to get out your magnifying glasses and macro lenses and head outside! This Virtual Program will broadcast on MPL's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/manitowoclibrary) and our YouTube channel.
Volunteer Fair Thursday, September 16, 11:00 AM
Are you thinking of volunteering locally? So many groups are in need of help!
Please stop at our Volunteer Fair in the Balkansky Community Room to discuss opportunities with organizations that are looking for help. You can take information home, and think about your possibilities, or sign up on the spot to get started. If you are an organization in need of volunteers or have any questions, please contact Therese Horstketter (call 920-686-3044 or email email@example.com). We provide tables and chairs—you just need to bring along items to share with possible volunteers.
