German Apprenticeship Model - Wisconsin Pilot Presentation

The Chamber of Manitowoc County in partnership with the Department of Workforce Development and the Wisconsin Manufacturing & Commerce cordially invite you to a German Apprenticeship Model—Wisconsin Pilot Presentation.  
 
Several years ago, the US Department of Labor's Office of Apprenticeship (OA) was approached by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to assist with the implementation of a German Style Apprenticeship program in Wisconsin. While the Department of Workforce Development currently manages a registered apprenticeship and youth apprenticeship program, the German model engages high school students earlier in the apprenticeship process. With the rebound in the economy and the perceived shortage of skilled workers, German companies have identified job skills as a key challenge to their business success in the United States and Wisconsin. In addition, interest in the German Model has continued to grow among Wisconsin manufacturers. As a result, the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce and the WI Department of Workforce Department is partnering to determine if Wisconsin industry is interested  in conducting a pilot (s) to determine if the German Apprenticeship Model is viable in Wisconsin. The purpose of this meeting is to share information we have gathered and to gauge interest from industry and education leaders.
