Stop in at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum on the evening of February 5th, 2026, to learn the fascinating history behind the collision and sinking of a luxurious sidewheel steamer, Lady Elgin, and how it came to be known as one of the worst maritime catastrophes in the Great Lakes.
Our speaker tonight is the author of Lost Lady: The Lady Elgin Tragedy, M. Paul Hollander. He recounts the 1860 wreck of the Lady Elgin, one of the most devastating maritime disasters in Great Lakes history. The 90-minute presentation includes the author’s personal connection to the tragedy, the historical events leading up to it, and eyewitness accounts.
This installment will take place on Thursday, February 5th, at 6:30 pm, at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum.
Admission is free and open to the public, with refreshments available for purchase. Each event features a specialty cocktail.
