Ergonomics in the Workplace – A Natural Fit
How do you incorporate ergonomics into your safety and wellness program?  There are many different ways ergonomics can benefit you.  To be successful, ergonomics programs need to be specifically geared towards your organization’s goals and objectives.  This presentation will explore specific case scenarios from KI focusing on both manufacturing and office ergonomics.  
 
Mary Fitzpatrick Pelegrin MS OTR/L
Mary has been an ergonomic consultant with Encore Unlimited since 1999 and possesses over 14 years of experience working in the field of ergonomics. She received her M.S. from UW-Milwaukee in Occupational Therapy with a core curriculum in Industrial Rehabilitation/and Ergonomics coursework; she also obtained her Ergonomics Certificate from UWM, and was recognized with the department’s GOLD award (Graduate of the Last Decade). Mary has many years of experience working with employers and insurance companies in addressing ergonomic issues and providing creative, innovative, and economical solutions. Mary also worked at UW-Milwaukee where she participated in ergonomics research with the co-creator of the strain index. Mary’s pro-active approach to injury management using ergonomics is apparent in her work with employers in developing cost effective ergonomic solutions, and implementing and enhancing ergonomic programs in order to decrease the risk of injury, and increase productivity and profitability. She has experience working with a multitude of different industries, and with return to work stakeholders at all levels, including employees, employers, claims adjusters, physicians, and attorneys. Mary’s role includes performing job-site risk assessments, completing job analyses to assist in addressing causation, performing on-site file reviews with Insurance carriers addressing causation questions, and developing return to work programs. Examples of Mary’s on site employer-based ergonomic projects include job rotation consultation, job accommodations analysis and creation of transitional duty programs.
