Connecting Young Professionals to Manitowoc County: A Day of Engagement
Objective: To educate and integrate new interns or employees into Manitowoc County, fostering a sense of community and belonging. This initiative aims to improve talent recruitment and retention by helping young professionals feel at home in the area.
Goal: To connect young professionals to Manitowoc County, ensuring they feel comfortable and engaged with their new community, thereby increasing the likelihood of long-term career growth and retention within the county.
Proposed Day Plan
- Welcome and Introduction
- Location: The Chamber Office
- Activity: Welcome breakfast and introductory session.
- Description: Participants will gather at the Chamber office for a light breakfast. A brief welcome speech by a Chamber representative will introduce the day's schedule and objectives. Participants will receive a welcome packet with maps, local guides, and a small gift bag featuring local products.
- Activity: Boarding the bus staffed with community guides.
- Description: Young Professionals serving as community guides will introduce themselves, sharing their experiences and insights about living and working in Manitowoc County. Ice-breaking activities will help participants get to know each other.
- Activity: Guided tours of local historical and cultural sites.
- Description: Participants will visit key cultural landmarks to learn about the history and heritage of Manitowoc County.
- Location: Various local businesses
- Activity: Tour of innovative local businesses and startups.
- Description: Participants will visit a selection of prominent local businesses and startups to understand the economic landscape and employment opportunities in the county. This segment includes meeting with business leaders and learning about their success stories.
- Location: A popular local restaurant
- Activity: Networking lunch.
- Description: A lunch stop at a well-known local restaurant, where participants can enjoy local cuisine while networking with each other and community guides.
- Activity: Guided walk and tour.
- Description: Participants will explore the outdoor recreational opportunities in Manitowoc County. This will showcase the natural beauty and recreational options available.
- Location: Local community center or non-profit organization
- Activity: Volunteering session.
- Description: Participants will spend time volunteering at a local community center or non-profit organization. This experience aims to foster a sense of community involvement and social responsibility.
