When three architects and a civil engineer established Abacus Architects in 2003, they already had the most important element–a relationship. They agreed on the values of the firm they wanted to build: a firm owned by the employees, driven by client priorities, putting people first, sharing equality, and serving the common good. Most essential, it would be a firm dedicated to building relationships around the structures it designs. Today Abacus serves a diverse client base with a full range of architectural, civil engineering, and interior design capabilities. Abacus sees every project as an opportunity to put into practice a philosophy of Relational Architecture: Designing buildings that connect with people and places.
