Manitowoc’s Lakeshore Holiday Parade Rescheduled for December 10
[Manitowoc, WI] – The 37th Annual Lakeshore Holiday Parade has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 10 at 6:30 pm.
Originally set to take place last week on Thanksgiving Eve, the parade could not continue on due to windy conditions and snow fall that worsened in the early evening hours. City staff could not safely shut down streets as they were handling other public safety calls.
On December 10, festive, decorated floats, marching bands, trucks, and walkers will follow the same route as originally planned - heading east at S 14th Street and Washington Street to S 8th Street, then head north to Park Street. Entries are judged, and winners are announced publicly and trophies presented at the December 15 Common Council meeting.
The Sensory Sensitive Zone will again be implemented from S 14th Street to S 12th Street on Washington Street. In these two blocks, there will be no flashing lights, loud music, or sirens. The Sensory Sensitive Zone creates a more comfortable environment so individuals who are sensitive to loud noise and flashes of light may enjoy the parade, too.
The public is welcome to bundle up and watch from the sidewalks anywhere along the route. If you can’t make it, a live radio broadcast will be available on WOMT Radio 1240 AM / 107.9 FM, and a Facebook Live will be streaming from the City of Manitowoc’s Facebook page.
Visit Manitowoc’s Visitor Information Center will also be open at 824 S 8th Street before the parade, providing hot chocolate and festive giveaways.
Visit Manitowoc organizes the Lakeshore Holiday Parade with the help of many generous community sponsors and partners including Novak’s Service Center, Vinton Construction, Oral Surgery & Implant Specialists BayCare Clinic, TDS Telecom. Nicolet National Bank, Briess Malt & Ingredients, Kwik Trip, Manitowoc Professional Police Association, Skana Aluminum, Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, Tenneco, Kohler Credit Union, Seehafer News, Maritime Ford, Fricke Printing, Pozorski Hauling & Recycling, Lake Coast Local and various City of Manitowoc departments.
