Manitowoc Pharmacies, Inc. has announced that it will be celebrating its 140th Anniversary on Friday, August 24th. To thank the community for its support throughout the years, Manitowoc Pharmacies has planned a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Chamber of Manitowoc County and Mayor Justin Nickels, scheduled for 11:30 a.m, followed by refreshments in the Kadow Room of the Capitol Civic Centre.
WOMT will be broadcasting live from the corner of 8th and Jay Streets in downtown Manitowoc, starting at 10:00 a.m. with the opportunity for patrons to “Spin the Wheel” and win a variety of prizes throughout the morning. The broadcast will culminate at 1:00 p.m. with the drawing of several top prizes, including a GPS, a portable DVD player, a digital camera and a $1000 Grand Prize Package which includes a 2 night stay at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake!
The week-long anniversary celebration kicks off on Monday, August 20th with many featured buy-one-get-one-free items and discounts throughout the store, as well as free blood sugar and blood pressure testing throughout the week.
Founded in 1872 by F.C. Buerstatte, and later incorporated as Manitowoc Pharmacies, the pharmacy is the oldest pharmacy in Manitowoc and has been on the same corner in downtown Manitowoc for all of its 140 years. With various renovations over the years, the store you see standing today experienced a major face lift in 1989, when it was restored to its original look. Great care was taken to adhere to the original design and we’re proud to say the building is now a contributing member on the National Register of Historic Places
