Description
As the Capitol Civic Centre’s $1.2 million dollar campaign winds down, Chamber members are invited to share in the excitement of the just-completed comprehensive renovations and improvements at the Capitol, long known as the “Jewel of the Lakeshore.” Be among the first to see some of the changes to the Capitol’s exterior and interior—including 8th Street façade, lobby, Kadow Room, restrooms, and the much-refreshed 1921 theater.
During this summer of 2013, the Capitol has undergone the first comprehensive building renovations and improvements since the 1987 restoration and formation of the 501(c)3 nonprofit entity that operates and owns the Capitol today. As the anchor for the Lakeshore’s performing arts community, the Capitol is the historic and grand home to a rich roster of local performing arts groups including The Masquers, The Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra, the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble, the Clipper City Chordsmen, the Jean Wolfmeyer Dance Company, the Kaleidoscope Dance Studio, and more. Along with the Capitol’s Student Adventure Series, with theatrical productions selected for their curriculum value to K-12 students, the Capitol is also home to the Baileigh Industrial Marquee Series, bringing leading performing artists and shows from around the world to the Lakeshore.
