Holy Family Memorial’s Heart & Vascular Center announced that it will open a new state-of-the-art cardiac and vascular catheterization X-ray lab from the Philips Healthcare company.
Beginning on October 16th, Holy Family Memorial will conduct minimally invasive procedures on the new system to treat a wide range of clinical problems including coronary artery disease – a leading cause of heart disorders in the U.S. Coronary artery disease affects arteries and blood vessels in the legs as well as the heart. Blockage in the legs is referred to as peripheral arterial disease or P.A.D.
The catheter-based procedures performed on this cutting-edge equipment may reduce the risks and recovery time found in traditional surgical approaches. The benefits of catheter-based interventions include shorter hospital stays, reduced recovery time without the pain of a large incision, and less visible surgical scarring for these procedures performed on both the heart and peripheral blood vessels.
The new fully digital system enables physicians to capture and view detailed images of a patient’s coronary structure which facilitates faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease.
The images on the new system are the highest quality images now available nationally making this the most advanced x-ray system in a cardiac catheterization lab in the State of Wisconsin.
