Description

Skana Aluminum Company is named after the tribal name for killer whales. Skana means "killer demon; supernatural power." Killer whales are known for their intelligence, strength in numbers and swift powerful movements. Like a killer whale, the investors of Skana Aluminum Company look to move swiftly in numbers to revive a business that can be a great asset to the Midwest and to Wisconsin. With large capital commitments for year one and two, the leadership team projects an extensive customer base with the potential for global exports.
Skana began in March of 2010. Since then, they've gone over 2 years without a lost time incident, currently they are at over 112 consecutive days. They've had 1 OSHA recordable in 2013 and their goal is to have no more recordables and zero lost time incidents for 2013.
For this Safety Forum, we will be touring Skana Aluminum Company. On Mirro Drive in Manitowoc, turn into the second driveway, which is a large parking lot. After parking, walk up the sidewalk by Dock Door 26, and a Skana representative will be welcoming you, having you sign in, and directing you to the training room. Attendees should be wearing long pants, closed toed shoes, hearing and eye protection. If you have hearing an eye protection, please bring it with you, otherwise it will be provided for you.
