Wellness Awareness Lunch "Importance of Brain Health in the Workplace"
Kim Jacquart Franzen, Dementia Care Specialist at the ADRC of the Lakeshore, will give an Education and Awareness presentation on Dementia including statistics, types of dementia, early warning signs and strategies to improve brain health. Information will also be shared on dealing with dementia in the workplace. The effect of dementia in the workplace is two-fold. Employees may be diagnosed with the disease or they may become caregivers of someone with the disease. Learn how to communicate with and create dementia-friendly environments for those with the diagnosis. Through education and awareness, the ADRC hopes to create a more dementia- friendly community in the Manitowoc County area by easing the fear and isolation associated with dementia and increasing access to the resources people need to live well with dementia. Join us on September 10 for a very informative presentation.
Kim Jacquart Franzen is currently the Dementia Care Specialist at the Aging and Disability Resource Center. She has been with the ADRC for over 6 years and has also worked as a Benefit Specialist for both the elderly and disabled populations. Prior to this, Kim was the Director at Lakeshore Interfaith Hospitality Network working with the homeless population for 4 years and has 6 years of experience working with developmentally disabled adults and autistic children doing behavior modification therapy.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Silver Lake College and currently she facilitates both monthly early stage support groups for people with Dementia and Early Memory Loss classes in Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties. She is a volunteer with the Lakeshore Humane Society and Hope House (formerly LIHN) and has participated in the Annual Alzheimer’s Walk.
