Reasonable Suspicion in the Workplace
As leaders in your organization it is your responsibility to maintain a safe, secure and productive environment for employees. So what do you do when you suspect one of your employees is under the influence of drugs or alcohol at work? Come find out from our panel of experienced professionals. The panel will consist of Kathleen A. Zucchi, SPHR, Human Resources Administrator for Red Arrow Products, Officer John Bennett, Manitowoc Police Department, Lori Wessel, Holy Family Employee Assistance Program, and Andy Krajnek, Attorney at Kaminski & Pozorski. A facilitator will be asking questions to the panel followed by a question answer session. Discuss the importance of a drug and alcohol program in the work place, learn signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol use and misuse, the legalities of creating a substance policy and providing an EAP service.

Panelists
Andy Krajnek is an attorney at the Manitowoc law firm of Kaminski & Pozorski, where he has practiced since 2001. His practice includes business and estate planning, real estate, family law, and litigation. Attorney Krajnek is a Manitowoc native and chose to return to his hometown after completing law school at the University of Wisconsin. He has been voted by his peers in the legal profession as a “Rising Star” in the legal community, a distinction received by only 2.5% of Wisconsin attorneys. He is currently an active member of The Chamber’s Membership Growth Committee, and volunteers his time to several other organizations in the community.
Officer John Bennett has 20 years’ experience as a Police Officer. He grew up on the Lakeshore, graduating from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. He attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Officer Bennett obtained his Law Enforcement Certification through Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and Lakeshore Technical College. After working for the Two Rivers Police Department for 5 years, where he was the Police Explorer Post Advisor and Crime Prevention Officer, he has spent the past 15 years at the Manitowoc Police Department and has been a School Resource Officer since 2006 at both Lincoln High School and Wilson Junior High. He has been a DARE Officer since 2009.
Lori Wessel has been with HFM - Employee Assistance Program for the past 20 years. During her time there she has worked with many Supervisor and Organizations with implementing their Drug and Alcohol Policies. Lori has individual experience in working with DOT as well as Non DOT employers since she is certified as a Substance Abuse Professional. Lori has worked with the employees who have tested positive in helping them return to their duties after a positive drug or alcohol test.
Kathleen Zucchi, SPHR, has over 20 years of Human Resources generalist experience including Compensation management and development, Recruitment and Retention, Training and Development, Safety and Workers Compensation within both retail and manufacturing operations. She has served as the Manager of Human Resources for Red Arrow Products Company LLC since 1999 with responsibility for all corporate HR functions for 200+ employees involving the corporate office, 2 manufacturing facilitates, Distribution Center and Culinary Center. Ms. Zucchi has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) since 1999. Currently she is pursuing study to attain the distinction as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) and Group Benefit Associate (GBA).
