Trainer - Short Term Assignment

Description / Scope / Mission

Responsible for orientating and training all Filling Department new hires to company policies and all position duties in production, Assembly, Line Leader, etc., to produce a quality product at specified quantities in a safe and cost-effective manner while making new hire feel part of the team. Must have the ability to work on all three shifts ending up eventually on 2nd shift.

 

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities

  1. Ensure all new hires are greeted and welcomed upon their first day at the beginning of shift.
  2. Conduct short tour of the production floor, lunchrooms, bathrooms, etc.
  3. Introduce new hire to all Line Leaders and production team.
  4. Position each new hire on a line and explain all positions on the line.
  5. Assign a mentor.
  6. Check on each new hire throughout the shift.
  7. Initiate and complete all training documents.
  8. Introduce line safety including housekeeping expectations.
  9. Train to perform at standard rates of speed while producing acceptable levels of quality.
  10. Follow all necessary and required production procedures.
  11. Inform where emergency stop buttons are and to be aware of surroundings.
  12. Explain and train quality procedures and cGMP’s.
  13. Perform line work when not training.
  14. Train employees on all safety training programs specific for the position, i.e., LOTO, and other trainings as required.
  15. Train employees on timekeeping and labor tracking system.
  16. May back up Production Supervisor.
  17. Miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education / Certification / Qualifications / Experience

  • Must be able to read, write and understand basic English.

Experience:

  • One or more years of experience as a Trainer in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Must be personable, work well with others and possess good communicate skills.

 

License or Certification Required:

  • None

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walk; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to one-third of the time.
  • Stand (all 8 hours of the shift or overtime as required); use hands to finger, handle or touch; and talk or hear 2/3 and more of the time.
  • Lift or force to be exerted up to 10 pounds 2/3 and more of the time.
  • Lift or force to be exerted up to 25 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
  • Lift or force to be exerted up to 50 pounds 1/3 of the time or less.
  • Palletizing – up to 10 feet carrying full cartons and stacking them on a pallet.  Also, dumping bottles, dumping a box of empty bottles into the hopper.  Sometimes boxes are large and awkward – may have to lift overhead.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Hand taper and possibly safety knife 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PPE REQUIRED:

  • Exposure to various chemicals 2/3 and more of the time.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts 2/3 and more of the time.
  • Moderate noise level 2/3 of the time during normal line duties.
  • Loud noise level 1/3 of the time from running motors form surrounding machinery.
  • PPE is required on specific jobs and when PPE is required, the LOI will specify what is needed.
