About Us
As a not-for-profit cooperative, Shipbuilders Credit Union has provided our members comprehensive and personalized service since 1938. Originally, SCU was formed to service the employees and families of the Manitowoc Company. In 1999, it became a charter for the community of Manitowoc and due to ongoing growth, it moved from its quaint location on Jay Street to a beautiful setting on Washington Street in May 2001. Today, SCU has two additional branch locations; Rapids Road, Manitowoc, and Mishicot. Our membership is open to anyone living or working in Manitowoc, Brown, Calumet, Door, Kewaunee or Sheboygan counties.
Our products and services are no different than the bank down the road or the credit union across town however, it's our service, genuine compassion and involvement with the people of our community that sets us apart. SCU's mission is simple: Think Member. We believe in putting the member first and giving back to them through higher deposit rates and lower interest rates.
We are confident that as long as we continue our mission, we will ensure the financial stability of our members and hold onto their loyalties for a lifetime.
