The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will hold an event highlighting vintage wheels, culture, and ice cream on Saturday, July 25.

The Mid Summer Meltdown will be held from 10 am to 4 pm with special activities and live music taking place throughout the day. Guests can grab an ice cream and check out traditional pre-1966 hot rods, customs, stock cars, trucks, motorcycles, and vintage fire engines. Cars begin filling the village at 10 am. Guests coming to view the cars should plan to arrive closer to 11 am.
In addition to the classic cars, a variety of vintage era activities will take place throughout the grounds including a mid century fashion show with Chelsey Pfiffner at 11 am, live music from Noon to 2 pm with the The Dirty Martinis Rockabilly Band, and a Kids area outside Shadyside School where kids can bring their Hot Wheels to race down the track. Guests can try out a hoola hoop and a JELLO contest will take place at 2 pm. Guests are encouraged to bring their best recipe and mold to showcase the variety of creations.
General admission prices for the event will be a ‘throwback’ to the site’s 1976 prices: $1 for adults, $.50 for children age 12 to 17, and free for children under age 12. Registration for vintage cars is only $10. Mid Summer Meltdown is made possible in part by WOMT 100, Hawkins Ash CPAs, and Bank First.

About the Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family.  The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
