Here's what is happening at the Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, in April:
- Spring Break Camp: Wednesday, April 1 from 9 am to 3 pm; Learn through crafts, games, and visits to some of our historic structures. Advanced registration is required.
- 100 Years of WOMT Radio (Hungry for History series program): Thursday, April 9 at 5:30 pm at the Venue, Manitowoc; Discover the rich history and celebrate 100 years of WOMT radio. Advanced registration is required.
- Community Craft Night: Thursday, April 16 from 5 to 7 pm at MCHS; Do you knit, crochet, sew, quilt, draw, paint, scrapbook, embroider, whittle, or anything else? Bring something to work on while you enjoy community engagement! Meet other crafters and artisans in your community, and maybe even pick up a new skill. Each month we will be bringing out a item from our archives collection to enjoy and inspire you in your own work! FREE to attend.
- Old Fashioned Fish Frydays: Friday, April 17 from 5 to 8 pm; Savor a fish fry, tasty cocktails and help support our mission to preserve local history. Dinner provided by Smiling Moose, Osman. Advanced registration is suggested
- Spring Clean up: Tuesday, April 21 and Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm; Arrive any time and stay as long as you like. Volunteers are needed to help rake leaves, prepare garden spaces, and clean our historic structures. Cleaning supplies are available but if you are able, please bring your own as well. Snacks will be provided throughout the day. Registration is encouraged.
- Volunteer Open House and Luncheon: Wednesday, April 22 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm; You’ll enjoy a light lunch while hearing all about the many opportunities available for volunteers - from buildings and grounds, to interpretation, education, archives, and guest services. We’ll also hear from current volunteers about what they do and what it means to them. Registration is recommended.
- Dine Fundraiser at Cousins Subs: Thursday, April 23 from 4 to 8 pm at Cousins Subs, Manitowoc. Dine with us at Cousins Subs on Thursday April 23 from 4 pm to 8 pm. No flyer needed, simply visit Cousins Subs during the fundraiser hours and 20% from your order will be donated to MCHS.
- Spring Dinner at the Meeme House: Thursday, April 23 at 6 pm;
Guests will play parlor games, be served a family style meal (prepared by a local restaurant), and enjoy a choice of historically-inspired beverages. Advanced registration is required and fee charged.
- Scout Day: Saturday, April 25 with a morning session from 9 am to Noon and afternoon session from 1 to 4 pm; Scout workshops are offered for the Boy Scout Metalworking Merit Badge, Textile Artist, and Social Butterfly. Advanced registration is required and fee charged.
- Wood stove basics and sweet treats workshop: Saturday, April 25 from Noon to 3 pm; Do you have a wood burning stove at home that you’d like to cook on, but have no prior knowledge of how to do it? Roll up your sleeves and make a sweet treat! Participants will learn the design of the woodstove and how to properly use it. Advanced registration is required and fee charged.
- Family Night: Historic Games: Friday, May 1 from 5 pm to 8 pm;
Step back in time to discover games of the past! You’ll discover a variety of games - board games, card games, and outside adventures. Our educators will teach you how to play new (timeless) games that are sure to become family favorites. Free to attend.
