The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will hold its Spring Opening Weekend Celebration on Saturday, May 2.

The 60 acre living history site’s Spring Opening Weekend Celebration will kick off with the 20th Annual Homegrown Heritage Breakfast Fundraiser from 8 am to 11 am. The breakfast buffet includes scrambled eggs from Humpty Dumpty Eggs, bread from Natural Ovens Bakery, Bacon and Breakfast Sausage from Newton Meats, Butter from Pine River Dairy, Cheese from Henning’s Cheese, Pancakes and Local jams, and Maple syrup from Hilltop Maple Syrup Camp. Beverages are provided by Kwik Trip and McDonalds. The breakfast will be prepared by Late’s BBQ, Manitowoc. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
Funds raised at the breakfast will help the Manitowoc County Historical Society in their efforts to preserve and promote local history through a wide variety of education programs.
From 10 am to 2 pm, a variety of living history demonstrations will take place. Guests will be able to chat with our knowledgeable costumed interpreters who keep the stories of our past alive. Guests can hear the clanging of the blacksmith’s hammer, smell the aroma of fresh-baked treats, and truly experience life in the 19th century. Forward Farm will have farm animals on site for guests to interact with.
A Coffee and Doughnuts workshop will also take place from 10 am to 1 pm, as part of the Create-Connect workshop series. Learn how to roast your own coffee and fry your own doughnuts the 19th century way! Using historical techniques and ingredients, guests will get to make and eat their own brunch-time treats. Advanced registration is required and fee charged.
May 2 is also Corporate Partner Free Day, where employees of the museum’s corporate partners receive free general admission.

About the Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family.  The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
