The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will hold a Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 15 from 11 am to 3 pm.
Get into the holiday spirit when you visit our historic structures of Pinecrest Village! Prepare for winter yourself by taking part in a special Create-Connect workshop, help townspeople get into the holiday spirit, and shop the Museum Store. It’s the perfect family activity to kick off the holiday season!
Stroll through the Historic Village where preparations are underway for the snowy season ahead. As you explore the 19th-century Historic Village, learn how Wisconsinites at the turn of the 20th century would have been preparing for the cold months ahead. See homes being prepared for snow and cold, clothing being mended, and kitchens being stocked for the winter months. Don’t miss candle making, food preservation, smoking meats, sewing winter garments, blacksmithing, and more.
There will also be holiday workshops, which require advanced registration. From noon to 3 pm, registrants can take part in:
Holiday Blacksmithing: Students will have the opportunity to make a candy cane in the blacksmith shop.
Winter Mittens: Hand work a lovely pair of mittens like it is the 1890s. Explore hand sewing and needle work as we piece together a wonderful pair of late 19th century patterned mittens with a 21st century twist.
The Holiday Open House will also include a catered historic dinner. Enjoy a 19th-century style meal, served out of the historic Meeme House! Your historic dinner fee also includes general admission for the day! Dinner is by advanced registration only.
General admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $10 for kids age 4 to 17. Under age 4 is free and MCHS members receive complimentary admission.
