Historical Society to hold Library Card Free Day on May 11

The Manitowoc County Historical Society, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will hold its annual Library card free day in conjunction with Manitowoc Public Library, Lester Public Library and Brillion Public Library on Saturday, May 11 from 10 am to 4 pm. Visitors can show their Manitowoc-Calumet Library system card and get in free to the museum. A story time will be presented at 11 am in the museum's one room schoolhouse, Shadyside School. A variety of make-and-take activities will also be available for youth inside Shadyside School.
The museum's Spring Hours began on Friday, May 3 and run through the month of May: (May 1 through May 31) Open Fridays and Saturdays, 10 AM to 4 PM; The McAllister House Welcome Center and the historic structures of Pinecrest Village are open.
Summer Hours are June 1 through September 30: Open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm; The McAllister House Welcome Center and the historic structures of Pinecrest Village are open.
MCHS and the Manitowoc Public Library also have a Museum Pass Program that allows locals to visit the Historical Society’s museum for free at anytime during the season. Manitowoc Public Library patrons will have the opportunity to check out a Museum Pass for this local museum, which includes the McAllister House Welcome Center and the historic structures of the recreated Pinecrest Historical Village. A limited number of Museum Passes are available at MPL’s first floor Service Desk on a first come, first served basis. Each Museum Pass grants entry for 2 adults and children 17 and under, residing in the same household. Passes can be checked out by valid MPL cardholders.

Brillion Public Library patrons will have the opportunity to check out a Museum Pass for this local museum, which includes the McAllister House Welcome Center and the historic structures of the recreated Pinecrest Historical Village. A limited number of Museum Passes are available on a first come, first served basis. Each Museum Pass grants entry for 2 adults and children 17 and under, residing in the same household. Passes can be checked out by valid BPL cardholders.

About the Manitowoc County Historical Society
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers.
Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family. The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
