Historical Society to host monthly Community Craft Nights, beginning in January

The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, will hold a monthly Community Craft Night. The Craft Nights will held on the third Thursday of each month, from 5 pm to 7 pm. The monthly series will begin on Thursday, January 16.

Do you knit, crochet, sew, quilt, draw, paint, scrapbook, embroider, whittle, or anything else? Bring something to work on while you enjoy community engagement! Meet other crafters and artisans in your community, and maybe even pick up a new skill.

Each month, the Manitowoc County Historical Society will be bringing out an item from the museum archives collection to enjoy and inspire crafters in their own work.

The monthly Community Craft Night series is inspired by the museum's Heritage Trade School and Heritage Maker’s Market programs, with a goal of keeping our heritage crafts and trades alive to share with a new generation. Just as a museum preserves items, the traditions and crafts of our community should be preserved as well.

The Community Craft Nights are free and donations are gladly accepted to help support the mission of preserving the stories, practices, and items of the past.

About the Manitowoc County Historical Society
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family.  The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
