Lakeshore College awarded $1.5M in grants

CLEVELAND, WI – Lakeshore College has been awarded $1.5 million in grant funding from the Wisconsin Technical College System to support a range of initiatives aimed at improving student success, expanding workforce training, and strengthening educational pathways across the region.

The funding will help the college advance key priorities, including reducing gaps in student achievement and increasing program completion rates. These efforts are part of Lakeshore College’s ongoing commitment to ensuring all students have access to the resources and support needed to succeed.

A portion of the grant will support the expansion of the college’s Maintenance Mechanic Millwright apprenticeship program. By investing in industry-aligned equipment, the college aims to increase enrollment capacity and better prepare students for high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing and industrial maintenance.

The funding will also strengthen Lakeshore College’s Dental Hygiene program by supporting accreditation efforts, initial curriculum instruction, professional development for faculty, and the purchase of specialized supplies essential for hands-on training.

Lakeshore College will also use the funding to expand collaboration with K-12 partners. These efforts will help high school students earn dual credit, transition more smoothly into postsecondary education, and gain the skills needed to enter the workforce with confidence.

“This investment allows us to continue building strong pathways for students at every stage of their educational journey,” said Lakeshore College President Paul Carlsen. “We are grateful for the support from the Wisconsin Technical College System as we work to meet the evolving needs of our students, employers, and communities.”
