Movie Nights at the Library: Oppenheimer                                       Thursday, April 10, 4-7 PM
Ultimately, the one question behind almost every decision is very basic—just because someone is capable of accomplishing something, should they? Especially if the capable person is a flawed super-genius creating a super weapon that will forever alter humanity’s destiny. That’s precisely the query at the core of “Oppenheimer,” the epic dramatic biopic starring Cillian Murphy as the titular theoretical physicist. Manitowoc Public Library’s Matt invites one and all to join him for an evening in the Balkansky Community Room for a screening of Oppenheimer (2023, R, 3hrs). FREE admission!

A Saturday Conversation with Bill Jartz                                       Saturday, April 12, 1-2:30 PM
Join Bill Jartz, the "Voice of Lambeau"—where he became the game day public address announcer in the 2005 preseason—and WBAY-Channel 2 News Anchor for a casual afternoon conversation in Manitowoc Public Library's Balkansky Community Room on Saturday, April 12, from 1-2:30 PM focusing on his career in the public eye. During this sit-down session, Bill will discuss his life as a sports journalist and his years with the Packer organization, as well as his time at the anchor desk. Following this presentation, we'll open things up to the audience for what will surely be a lively Q&A session. This is one NFL Draft Season event you won't want to miss!

MPL Insider: Beyond the Books with Tim & Emily                             Thursday, April 17, 12 PM
For their April installment of “MPL Insider,” Tim & Emily will be welcoming back a busy-bee staff member that may have appeared on “Insider” potentially more times than anyone else employed by MPL—Public Services Librarian, Tony Plekan—to discuss all the phenomenal things taking place at the Library during Comic Book Day 2025! It’s the kind of chat that all-but-requires the viewer to warm up a can of Hormel Chicken in Chili Sauce Tamales and some fruit cocktail in heavy syrup along with a canteen of Hawaiian Punch to settle-in for some fun, nonlinear chit-chat! They’ll also be visited by Manty native, Pat Dewane, to discuss his MPL author event taking place that evening! Come with questions at-the-ready! You're bound to have some!

The Accidental Hero | An Author Event with Pat Dewane           Thursday, April 17, 6-7:30 PM
Like a buried treasure, Lieutenant Colonel Matt Konop’s unread WWII manuscript sat undisturbed in a Two Rivers basement for 23 years. In 2007, his grandson, Pat Dewane, turned it into a one-man show that has caused a sensation across the United States. On the last week of WWII, Konop freed the same Czech towns and villages his grandparents had left for rural Kewaunee County in the 1860s. This remarkable coincidence caused the Czechs to parade him around town as their “liberator,” an American officer who spoke their dialect, looked like them, and had a local surname. Konop would never be the same, as the truth of his Bohemian identity was revealed in the middle of America’s great moment on the world stage. Dewane will read from his book, The Accidental Hero, in Manitowoc Public Library’s Balkansky Community Room at 6 PM on Thursday, April 17. Pat will recount his grandfather’s odyssey, as well as sharing some of the revelations that have found him personally in the United States and the Czech Republic.

Judy Blume Book Club                                                                      Thursday, April 17, 6-7 PM
For over five decades, Judy Blume's books have enchanted young readers and hailed as pioneering works in the Young Adult (YA) novel genre. Her realistic fiction delves into the beautifully chaotic world we live in and resonates with readers of all ages, backgrounds, and life stages. Whether you're already a fan or new to the magic of Judy Blume, join us at Manitowoc Public Library as we delve into some of the standout books by this groundbreaking author. PLEASE NOTE: While Ms. Blume is a YA author, this is an Adult Program, offered to those 18-years of age and older. The Judy Blume Book Club will meet in the Board Room on MPL's Second Floor from 6-7 PM. While the JBBC will also be meeting in June, the second gathering will take place on Thursday, April 17, and will focus on Tiger Eyes.

Football Frenzy                                                                            Tuesday, April 22, 6-7:15 PM
Kickoff NFL Draft Week with an evening of football-themed, family-friendly fun. We're taking the tailgate indoors with games, trivia, photo-ops, tailgate treats, and door prizes—all ages are invited! Wear your favorite jersey to get into the spirit! Touchdown! Adults must accompany children under the age of 8 at all times.

Cricut Badging Session                                                            Friday, April 25, 2-3:30 PM
Join us in the Idea Box for a demonstration of the Cricut Maker, a machine that cuts and scores a variety of materials for hobby crafting. Library Staff will show you how to use our Cricut Maker and the Design Space software. Upon completion of the training, you'll be "Badged" and eligible to use it at your leisure. Space is limited and registration is required. You must be 18-years old or older to participate in this program. Registration opens on Friday, April 11, at 9 AM. Head to www.manitowoclibrary.org/event/cricut-badging-session-21446 to secure your spot!
