Manitowoc, WI, May 20, 2025—Manitowoc Public Library’s June 2025 Adult Events are scheduled on the following dates and times.
 
Seven Steps to Effective Estate Planning                                        Monday, June 2, 6-7:30 PM
Join Attorney Tracy Gibson in a workshop to learn the language and tools used in estate planning, such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. Learn the risks of estate planning shortcuts and the perils of Probate, and get tips and tools so that you can make the best decisions for yourself and your family. Attorney Gibson is a frequent presenter of estate planning seminars and adult courses at various local libraries as well as at UW-Green Bay Lifetime Learning Institute.
 
DWD Employment Assistance                                         Tuesdays throughout June, 9 AM-4 PM
The Department of Workforce Development staff is providing onsite employment assistance in MPL’s Franklin Street Room. This includes resume writing, assistance with online applications, assistance registering in Job Center of Wisconsin, and more! No appointment needed.
 
Genealogy Help with the Genealogical Society                                   Tuesdays in June, 3-5 PM
Members of the Manitowoc County Genealogical Society can be found in MPL’s Manitowoc Collection every Tuesday from 3-5 PM to help people with their genealogy research.
 
Drop-In Chess Club @ MPL                                                          Wednesday, June 4, 6-7:30 PM
Want to improve your memory and concentration or practice logical thinking skills? Make a smart move and join us for Drop-In Chess Club at Manitowoc Public Library’s Second Floor Balkansky Community Room from 6-7:30 PM on Wednesday, June 4! The game of chess offers many brainy benefits—and it's just fun! Those of all abilities and ages (6-years plus, please) are welcome, but staff will not offer formal instruction. Chessboards are provided and library materials are available for further learning. No registration is required, but please remember that children under the age of 8 (even prodigies!) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
 
3Doodler Badging Session                                                                    Monday, June 9, 6-7 PM
Join us in the Idea Box for a demonstration of our 3Doodler Pens. The 3Doodler melts plastic filament into a pen with which you can use to draw solid and even three-dimensional images. MPL Staff Member, Tony, will show you how to use our 3Doodler and, upon completion of the training, you'll be "Badged," so you can use the 3Doodler at your leisure. Glowforge Badging Session                                                           Tuesday, June 10, 6-7:30 PM
Join us in the Idea Box makerspace for a demonstration of our Glowforge on June 10. The Glowforge uses a laser to engrave designs into different material types like acrylic and wood. Library Staff will show you how to use our Glowforge and upon completion of the training, you'll be "Badged" so you can use the Glowforge at your leisure. Summer Reading Sign-Up at Cedar Crest Ice Cream                     Thursday, June 12, 12-2 PM
Sign up for Manitowoc Public Library's Summer Reading Program at Cedar Crest! Join Miss Betty for a Storytime at 1 PM. Be one of the first to sign up and get a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream! Yum! In case of inclement weather, this event will be canceled. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
 
Movie Nights at the Library—Captain America: Brave New World
Thursday, June 12, 5:30-7:30 PM
For the new season of "Movie Nights at the Library," MPL's Movie Guy, Matt, will be focusing on screening, newer releases with somewhat edgier storylines. And what a fearless new beginning he's chosen for his June offering—Captain America: Brave New World (2025, Rated PG-13, running 1hour, 58minutes), starring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford. And while the real world in which we live is a tumultuous place, imagine just how unstable and chaotic it would be if we had to contend with mind-controlled super soldiers, an adamantium arms race, and an out-of-control Red Hulk! Who wouldn't need a significant assist from Captain America to deal with all of that?! Admission is FREE!!!
 
Make It at MPL!—Camping Buckets with the Cricut                        Friday, June 13, 2-3:30 PM
Join us in the Idea Box as we make Camping Buckets with the Cricut! No prior experience on the Cricut is required. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration opens May 30 at 9 AM, so head to www.manitowoclibrary.org/event/make-it-mpl-camping-buckets-cricut-22694 then to secure your spot. You must be 18 or older to participate in this program. Participants are required to bring a plain 5-gallon bucket and lid. Items should be clean and in good condition in order for the vinyl to adhere. White buckets will work the best. Please Note—our sample includes an additionally purchased LED light. This is not included in the class.
 
Taste of Tae Kwon Do                                                                    Saturday, June 14, 12-1 PM
Grab the kids and join us on the Library Lawn at Manitowoc Public Library for a fun Saturday afternoon at our Taste of Tae Kwon Do event! This beginner-friendly class is led by Mark Weber, the founder of Lakeshore Tae Kwon Do, who has 45 years of experience. Mark loves helping people in Manitowoc learn about martial arts. If you want to try Tae Kwon Do for self-defense, fitness, or just for fun with your family, this is a great chance to explore! We look forward to seeing you there! Participants must be elementary age (6-years old) or older and children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Registration is required for Taste of Tae Kwon Do. Neurographic Art at the YMCA                                                       Tuesday, June 17, 6-7:30 PM
Relax with Neurographic Art—a stress-free way to calm your mind and exercise your creativity. While no artistic ability is required for this event, registration is for this 18+ event. Judy Blume Book Club                                                                      Thursday, June 19, 6-7 PM

Her realistic fiction delves into the beautifully chaotic world we live in and resonates with readers of all ages, backgrounds, and life stages. Whether you're already a fan or new to the magic of Judy Blume, join us at Manitowoc Public Library as we delve into some of the standout books by this groundbreaking author. PLEASE NOTE: While Ms. Blume is a YA author, this is an Adult Program, offered to those 18-years of age and older. The Judy Blume Book Club will meet in the Board Room on MPL's Second Floor from 6-7 PM. The final gathering of the JBBC for the summer will take place on Thursday, June 19, and will focus on In the Unlikely Event.
 
An Evening with Michael Perry                                                        Thursday, June 19, 6-8 PM
Manitowoc Public Library is delighted to invite you to join Michael Perry—New York Times bestselling author and Wisconsin Public Radio contributor—for an evening of storytelling and laughter. This event is FREE and open to the public. No advance seating reservations are required! It all takes place on Thursday, June 19, at 6 PM at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus Theatre (705 Viebahn Street, Manitowoc). Michael Perry is a farm boy turned humorist, New York Times bestselling author, volunteer firefighter/first responder, corporate speaker, and amateur snow plow driver from rural Wisconsin. He is known for leaving audiences laughing (and nodding, and sometimes getting misty) from his “reflective roughneck” takes on life in rural America. We hope that you can join us for a night of amazing storytelling!

Learn About Libby: The Online Reading App                                Tuesday, June 24, 6-7:30 PM
The Libby app gives you access to thousands of free eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines that you can read online. Haven’t tried Libby yet? Join us on Tuesday, June 24, from 6-7:30 PM for a demonstration of Libby and receive hands-on assistance. Our staff will show you how to download Libby, search for titles, and borrow books. You’ll also get some helpful tips for navigating the app. This class is free for all ages and no registration is required.
