Manitowoc Public Library June 2026 Adult Events

Manitowoc, WI, May 16, 2026—Manitowoc Public Library’s June 2026 Adult Events are scheduled on the following dates and times.
 
Summer Library Hours
Please be aware that Manitowoc Public Library will be closed on Sundays during summer, post-Memorial Day through Labor Day. Normal Sunday hours will resume following the Labor Day weekend.
 
DWD Employment Assistance & Career Counseling                      Tuesdays in June, 9 AM-4 PM
The Department of Workforce Development staff is providing onsite services in MPL’s Franklin Street Room for both Employment Assistance and Career Counseling. Here are some of the specifics:

  • Drop-In Employment Assistance: Department of Workforce Development staff will provide onsite services, including resume writing, assistance with online applications, assistance registering in Job Center of Wisconsin, and more! No appointment needed.
  • Career Counseling: Dealing with a Job Loss or considering a Career Change? Career and Employment Counseling may help! Our licensed career counselor can assist with providing support and encouragement, assisting with the exploration of career and self-assessments, assisting with reviewing labor market information, removing and overcoming obstacles, and creating an individualized employment plan to help you turn your career vision into a reality. Our Career Counselor can also provide you with the tools, feedback and resources you need to be successful in your job search. Genealogy Help with the Genealogical Society                                   Tuesdays in June, 3-5 PM
Members of the Manitowoc County Genealogical Society can be found in MPL’s Manitowoc Collection every Tuesday from 3-5 PM to help people with their genealogy research.
 
Drop-In Chess Club @ MPL                                                          Wednesday, June 3, 6-7:30 PM
Want to improve your memory and concentration or practice logical thinking skills? Make a smart move and join us for Drop-In Chess Club at Manitowoc Public Library’s Second Floor Balkansky Community Room from 6-7:30 PM on Wednesday, June 3! The game of chess offers many brainy benefits—and it's just fun! Those of all abilities and ages (6-years plus, please) are welcome, but staff will not offer formal instruction. Chessboards are provided and library materials are available for further learning. No registration is required, but please remember that children under the age of 8 (even prodigies!) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
 
Summer Reading Sign-Up at Cedar Crest                                        Tuesday, June 9, 12-2 PM
Register for Manitowoc Public Library's Summer Reading Program at Cedar Crest Ice Cream Parlor (2000 S 10th Street, Manitowoc)! Be one of the first to sign up for the 2026 Summer Reading Program and get a coupon for a free scoop of scrumptious ice cream! In case of inclement weather, this event will be canceled.
 
Free Life Skills Workshop—Rise & Thrive: Building Resilience for Summer & Beyond Thursday, June 11, 6-7:30 PM
Join Rogers Behavioral Health for a transformative series of free, monthly life skills workshops. Open to everyone in the community, you'll gain valuable life skills in a supportive, non-clinical environment. Registration encouraged, though not required through Rogers Behavioral Health.
 
Glowforge Badging Session                                                             Friday, June 12, 2-3:30 PM
Join us in the Idea Box makerspace for a demonstration of our Glowforge on May 11. The Glowforge uses a laser to engrave designs into different material types like acrylic and wood. Library Staff will show you how to use our Glowforge and upon completion of the training, you'll be "Badged" so you can use the Glowforge at your leisure. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration opens on Wednesday, June 3, at 9 AM. Summer Reading Program 2026                            Monday, June 15 through Saturday, August 8

Join the Summer Reading Program and earn weekly prizes just by reading! Pre-register on the Beanstack App beginning on Monday, June 1, or pick up a paper tracker at the launch of the Summer Reading Program, Monday, June 15!
 
  • FREE and for All Ages!
  • Read or be read to a total of 30 days to complete the program (any time spent reading, counts as a day of reading)
  • Every six days read earns you a prize!
  • Participants have until Saturday, August 15, to pick up your prizes, while supplies last

Summer Bingo Bash                                                                    Tuesday, June 16, 10 AM-7 PM
Kick off Summer Reading with MPL's Bingo Bash! All ages are welcome to attend ONE session:

  • 2 PM
  • 6 PM

Play bingo, win prizes, and sign up for the Summer Reading Program. Summer will be over B-4 you know it! Please note—seating is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

 
ManitoWalk: Historic Downtown Walking Tour                   Wednesday, June 17, 10-11:30 AM
Downtown Manitowoc has seen significant change over the decades, but landmarks of our city’s past remain—if you know where to look! Join library staff as they explore the historic buildings on 8th Street in Downtown Manitowoc. Learn about the history of 10 buildings that helped shape our community. The tour starts at Manitowoc Public Library. Participants are asked to meet outside by the Flag. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the walking tour. For ages 18+. Registration opens June 1 at 9 AM. Taste of Tae Kwon Do                                                                   Saturday, June 20, 11-12 PM
Grab the kids and join us on the Library Lawn at Manitowoc Public Library for a fun Saturday afternoon at our Taste of Tae Kwon Do event! This beginner-friendly class is led by Mark Weber, the founder of Lakeshore Tae Kwon Do, who has 45 years of experience. Mark loves helping people in Manitowoc learn about martial arts. If you want to try Tae Kwon Do for self-defense, fitness, or just for fun with your family, this is a great chance to explore! We look forward to seeing you there! Participants must be elementary age (6-years old) or older and children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Registration is required for Taste of Tae Kwon Do. Please Note: This class is intended for adults, teens, and children aged 6 and older, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. The class will be held outside on the library lawn. Made in America: State Heart Keychains with Glowforge       Monday, June 22, 5:30-7:30 PM
To recognize the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, we are creating patriotic-themed projects in the Idea Box, Manitowoc Public Library's makerspace. Join us for Made In America: State Heart Keychains! We are making heart-shaped wood heart keychains featuring a state of your choice. Pick the state you were born in, loved to visit, or dream of going to one day and we'll create a keychain of that state using the Glowforge. The Glowforge is a laser engraver that etches designs into materials like wood and acrylic. Keychains are approximately 1.2" tall and were designed by Glowforge. Following the demonstration, we're offering a Glowforge Badging Session for all attendees. By completing this training, you will be approved to use the Glowforge at the library for your own projects! Space is limited and registration is required. Made in America: Yankee Doodling with 3Doodler Pens             Tuesday, June 23, 1-2:30 PM
To recognize the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, we are creating patriotic-themed projects in the Idea Box, Manitowoc Public Library's makerspace. Join us for Made in America: Yankee Doodling with 3Doodler Pens! We are making USA themed designs with 3Doodler Pens. The 3Doodler melts plastic filament into a pen that you use to draw solid and even three-dimensional images with! Use any of the provided USA stencils to create a piece of art. We'll teach you how to use a 3Doodler Pen. Following the program you will be "Badged," meaning you can use the 3Doodlers at the Library for your own projects! Space is limited and registration is required. Registration opens Monday, June 15, at 9 AM. You must be 14 or older to participate in this program. Individuals who are 14-17 years old must have a parent or guardian present to complete a waiver to use the equipment.
 
Made in America: Patriotic Rosettes on the Cricut                              Friday, June 25, 2-4 PM
Join us in MPL’s Idea Box makerspace to create patriotic rosettes on the Cricut to celebrate America's 250th anniversary! No prior experience on the Cricut is required. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration opens Thursday, June 11, at 9 AM. America 250! Patriotic Parade                                                 Tuesday, June 30, 5:30-6:30 PM
Let's celebrate America's 250th birthday! Bring bikes, strollers, wagons, wheelchairsanything that rolls. At 5:30 PM, supplies will be made available for decorating (while they last), but you may add as many stars and spangles as you like at home. At 6 PM, we'll parade proudly around the block. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled.
