Manitowoc Public Library Welcomes the Community to Traveling History Makers Tour
“Great Lakes, Small Streams” Hosted in Collaboration with the
Wisconsin Historical Society
 
Manitowoc, WI, September 1, 2026—The Wisconsin Historical Society is bringing its traveling History Makers Tour to Manitowoc and Manitowoc Public Library has signed on as a participating host. MPL will be hosting “Great Lakes, Small Streams: How Water Shapes Wisconsin.”
 
WHAT: We drink it, fish in it, clean with it, swim in it, and travel across it. Water has always been critical for our survival. The Great Lakes region is home to one of the largest freshwater resources on the planet. That water shaped the landscape, history, and communities of our state. Admission to the exhibit is FREE. WHY: The History Makers Tour is one way the Wisconsin Historical Society is continuing to serve learners and history lovers in the time leading up to the opening of the new Wisconsin History Center in early 2027. The Wisconsin Historical Society ranks as one of the largest, most active and most diversified historical societies in the nation, bringing programming and resources across the state as it fulfills its mission of connecting people to the past by collecting, preserving, and sharing stories.
