The Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village, 924 Pinecrest Road in Manitowoc, has opened up registration for its annual Scout Day. The Scout Day will be held on Saturday, April 26 with a morning session from 9 am to Noon and an afternoon session from 1 to 4 pm. Advanced registration is required.

The programing for scouts typically fulfills a badge requirement, but additional activities outside of the program may be required. Space is limited.

Class options include:
  • Boy Scout Metalworking Merit Badge (The 'lab' portion of the BSA Metalworking Merit Badge with the Blacksmithing option): Discover basic smithing skills such as forging, bending, curling, twisting and annealing. Scouts will make 2 projects - a spatula and steak flipper, which satisfies the BSA MB requirements. Maximum of 6 students per session.
  • Textile Artist - Senior Girl Scout Badge: When you see all the colors and textures of fabrics and yarns, do you dream up a million things to do with them? Get ready to turn those visions into reality as you meet with artists, learn about the world of textile arts, and make a project in the craft that most inspires you to pick up your needles (or loom). Maximum of 6 students per session.
  • Social Butterfly and Playing the Past - Junior Girl Scout/ Cub Scout: Many early residents enjoyed entertaining guests. Attend a gathering where you will practice using good manners to show your respect to others. When you know the proper way to behave in a situation you will also feel more confident and at ease. About the Manitowoc County Historical Society
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family.  The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
