Registration is open for the Historical Society's Heritage Trades School on March 29 and 30

The Manitowoc County Historical Society will hold its annual Heritage Trades School, a weekend-long series of workshops on Saturday, March 29 from 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday, March 30 from 9 am to 2 pm. Workshops take place at the museum and Pinecrest Village, covering a variety of heritage skills. Workshops this year include:

Blacksmithing: If you are up for a more in depth experience in the blacksmithing world, try this workshop. Participants can make their own hammer head.

19th Century Angling: Sport fishing is not new. Join Ezra Parker for the basics of fishing in the nineteenth century and to construct your own rod and tackle.

Dressmaking: Join dressmaker, Hannah Harvey in the mid-20th century! Create a cute dress for your next car show, World War 2 event, sock hop or even everyday wear! Learn how to follow a pattern, construction methods, fabric and prints, and hand sewing techniques. Up your game for this summer’s events or just for fun!

Supplies and equipment are provided for each workshop. Snacks and a lunch are provided throughout the weekend. Participants should plan to bring their own beverages, and be prepared for the weather. Advanced registration is required and a fee is charged.

About the Manitowoc County Historical Society
Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers.

Pinecrest Historical Village began in 1970 with a land donation from the Hugo and Eleanor Vetting family.  The Village has grown to represent a reproduction of a small Wisconsin community during the early 1900s. The buildings form the commercial, social, and political core of a town and they represent several architectural styles of Wisconsin's history. The furnishings, items, and tools in the various buildings used by the Pinecrest Village interpreters are either original pieces or carefully researched reproductions.
