Roncalli Catholic Schools Announces Grade Realignment Plan
to Expand Academic Excellence and Student Opportunities

MANITOWOC, Wis., ‑ Roncalli Catholic Schools has announced a strategic academic and facilities plan designed to strengthen educational opportunities, maximize existing resources, and to further advance academic excellence across all grade levels.

As part of ongoing long-range planning for a future elementary school, the Roncalli Board of Directors has unanimously approved a transition that will relocate grades 7 and 8 to the high school campus beginning in the fall of 2027. This shift supports the development of a focused, age-appropriate 3K–6 elementary model while expanding access to advanced coursework, specialized facilities, and enhanced programming for seventh- and eighth-grade students.

“This decision reflects our commitment to providing the strongest possible academic experience for every student,” said Tom Korta, Roncalli Catholic Schools President. “By thoughtfully aligning grade levels across campuses, we are able to expand opportunities, improve instructional efficacy, and better prepare students for success in high school and beyond.”

The realignment is expected to significantly enhance student access to high-level academic resources and enrichment experiences. The high school campus is equipped with science laboratories, art rooms, a library, auditorium, gymnasium, and athletic fields, facilities that will now be fully utilized by both middle and high school students. Importantly, the transition of grades 7 and 8 will not require new construction on the current high school campus.

Continued Planning and Community Engagement
Design details for the new 3K–6 elementary school are not yet finalized, though leadership expects to share conceptual plans, budgeting, and construction timelines in the near future.

To support open communication and community input, Roncalli Catholic Schools President Tom Korta, will host multiple listening session for Roncalli families to learn more about the plan, ask questions, and share feedback.

“This plan positions Roncalli to grow in both opportunity and impact for generations to come,” Korta added. “From joyful early learners to graduates ready to lead with integrity, Roncalli is where faith and knowledge grow together.”
