ShelterBox

Manitowoc Sunrise Rotary is reaching out to victims of disasters and war in the world by purchasing a Shelter Box to be distributed to a needy family.  The club received information about the disaster relief charity in September from Fran Wargolet, ShelterBox Ambassador, and made the decision to donate in October. 

ShelterBox International grew out of a Rotary Club initiative and has been an official partner of Rotary since 2012.  It provides emergency shelter after disaster, supporting some of the 10 million people who have been forced out of their homes by disasters, conflicts and climate crisis.  They currently are active in the Middle East, Asia, South America, the Caribbean and currently in the United States.   

Most of Sunrise Rotary’s funds are donated locally, however, the Club has great compassion for the suffering of so many worldwide.  Polio Eradication is also a priority of Rotary International and thanks to their efforts, along with the United Nations and the Gates Foundation, wild polio is now limited to only 2 countries on the planet.  Information at www.manitowocsunriserotary.org or on  their Facebook page.
