Trivia Night Opens Democracy Discussions Across Generations

November 5, 2025, 6 to 8:00 PM, Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA

Vote with Grands, intergenerational discussions on democracy, will kick off Wednesday, November 5, 6 to 8:00 PM, with a Trivia Night at the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA. The Vote with Grands campaign aims to encourage voter registration and civic participation among younger voters through dialogue between generations. “Grands” includes grandparents, parents, grandkids, and all those connected intergenerationally or seeking such connections.

The Trivia Night and future events is are sponsored by the League of Women Voters – Manitowoc County, a non-partisan organization focusing on voter education. Trivia Night is open to the public and no registration is required. Snacks will be provided.

According to CIRCLE (Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning and Engagement), which tracks youth civic engagement:

· Voter data for the 2024 federal election showed 47% of youth (defined as ages 18 to 29) voted.

· There was a 9-point participation gap in the youth vote by gender in 2024 with a 50% turnout among young women and 41% among young men.

· The majority of youth (63%) value the basic values and practices of democracy, but they are relatively disengaged from civic action and may be passive in the face of current threats to democracy.
