Visit Manitowoc Recognizes the Power of Travel During National Travel and Tourism Week
[Manitowoc, WI] – National Travel and Tourism Week shines a spotlight on the U.S. travel industry’s essential role in driving economic growth and creating jobs. Locally, each year Visit Manitowoc joins its peers across the state and country in recognizing the impact the travel industry holds on the local economy, businesses and community.
This year National Travel and Tourism Week runs May 4 – 10. The local celebrations began at the April Common Council meeting when Mayor Justin Nickels presented a proclamation declaring May 4 – 10 National Travel and Tourism Week in the City of Manitowoc. It will continue with Visit Manitowoc hosting its annual Travel and Tourism Week breakfast at The Inn on Maritime Bay with area tourism partners on Wednesday, May 7. At this event, Director of Tourism, Courtney Hansen, will be highlighting the Destination Marketing Organization’s recent projects, upcoming initiatives, and how local businesses can partner to best collectively market Manitowoc as a premier destination.
“We take a moment to celebrate our thriving local tourism industry each year on the cusp of the busy travel season. The Visit Manitowoc team is excited to soon welcome an influx of visitors to the lakeshore to experience can’t-miss summer events, relaxing beaches and our many unique offerings,” said Courtney Hansen. “We also give a special thanks to the many front-line tourism employees gearing up for an exciting summer. These employees staff our hotels, attractions and restaurants, serving as the face of Manitowoc to many visitors they encounter.”
