Food Services Assistant (Part-Time)

Schedule: Temporary Part-Time, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Hourly Wage: $15.00–$16.00 (based on qualifications)
 
Position Summary
Roncalli Catholic Schools is seeking a dependable and service-minded Food Services Assistant to join our Food Services team at Roncalli High School. This position assists with food preparation, meal service, kitchen operations, and maintaining a clean, efficient cafeteria. The ideal candidate enjoys working collaboratively, values excellent customer service, and is committed to supporting students and staff in a faith-filled educational environment.
 
Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up food and beverages for café and meal service.
• Assist with breakfast, lunch, and special event meal preparation.
• Help prepare refreshments for orientations, staff meetings, and school events.
• Receive, inspect, and properly store food and supply deliveries.
• Serve in a lead capacity when the Head Cook is absent.
• Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen and dining areas.
• Follow HACCP food safety procedures and sanitation standards.
• Wash dishes and assist with kitchen cleanup.
• Remove garbage and recyclables.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain kitchen floors.
• Safely operate and clean kitchen equipment.
• Cross-train in all kitchen responsibilities.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and inventory.
• Report maintenance or supply needs to the Head Cook or Food Services Director.
• Maintain ServSafe certification and participate in ongoing training.
• Work additional scheduled days as needed throughout the school year, including designated in-service and preparation days.

• Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to eight hours per day).

Employment Requirements
The successful candidate must:

• Pass a criminal background check.
• Complete and maintain Virtus Safe Environment training.
• Obtain and maintain ServSafe certification.
• Support the mission and Catholic values of Roncalli Catholic Schools.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly wage of $15.00–$16.00, based on qualifications
• Part-time employee benefits as outlined in the Personnel Handbook
• Semi-monthly payroll (15th and last day of each month)
